Phil DeCicca is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics and Member of the Centre for Health Economics and Policy Analysis. He received his PhD in economics from the University of Michigan in 2005. In a broad sense, he is interested in the impact of incentives in public policies and programs on individual behaviour. His work focuses on topics in health economics and labour economics and the intersection of the two fields. DeCicca’s current work in health economics builds on an existing interest in the impact of excise taxes on smoking behaviour. He is also involved in work on the relationship between economic conditions and health, as well as the existence and extent of competitive spillovers in public health insurance programs.
