Jillian Kohler, the Director of Global Health at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and Munk School of Global Affairs and an Associate Professor, University of Toronto, has joined CHEPA as an associate member.
Kohler conducts research and focuses her teaching on issues related to global pharmaceutical policy. She has particular interest in issues related to fair drug access, good governance in health systems and intellectual property rights.
Prior to joining the University of Toronto, Kohler was an in-house specialist on pharmaceutical policy for UNICEF, the World Bank, and the World Health Organization and bases her research and teaching on her experiences working for these global institutions and her field work in developing countries.
Kohler writes extensively on pharmaceutical policy issues for academic and cultural publications and most recently co-edited Access to Medicines as a Human Right: What Implications for the Pharmaceutical Industry University of Toronto Press) (2012). She was a technical adviser to the WHO Good Governance for Medicines Group and the Access to Medicines Index (2011 and 2012).
Kohler is a 2013 Gruber Fellow in Global Justice at the Global Health Leadership Institute, Yale University. She received her PhD in Politics from New York University.
