  • New research projects receive CIHR operating grants

    Cathy Charles is a co-investigator on a project to examine the use and effectiveness of laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer in Ontario during the past five years. CIHR is providing $430,000 over a three-year period for investigators to study how surgeons make their decisions about whether to use laparoscopic surgery instead of open surgery, and to compare patient outcomes during a three-year follow-up period. Principal investigators on the project are McMaster University’s Marko Simunovic and Nancy Baxter of St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.
